May 19, 2021 – Casper, WY to Deadwood, SD

This is going to be a short entry, but not because I didn’t enjoy the day. Quite the opposite, actually!

Today was mostly just going from point A to point B. I wanted to get close to Mount Rushmore and there was a nice free camping area up on a mountain in Deadwood, SD.

Before I started creating this journal entry, I realized I took very few pictures and no videos at all the entire day. I do wish I took some video of where I was camped out at, but honestly this was a great day for the very reason I was just able to drive and not worry about stopping to sightsee.

Not that there’s anything wrong with taking in the great sights, but sometimes it’s nice to just go for a drive and take in the views without a bunch of stops.

Here are the few pictures I took, starting with the road leading into my campsite.

Today was all about the drive. Google is being weird like usual, but we took that center route through the Thunder Basin National Grassland.

Highlights of the drive.
