Today was awesome.
I’ve been so excited to get to the Badlands that I was just sort of going through Custer State Park since it was so close. Little did I know it would be one of my favorite places!
I absolutely loved Custer State Park and will absolutely be back.
As for Mount Rushmore… I’m just going to come out and say it. It’s kinda dumb! 😀
I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but it seems like a lot of effort for something that isn’t all that impressive. I found myself kind of laughing at it.
How unAmerican of me!
But hey, I’ve always had this feeling like I should see it, and now I’ve seen it. Check it off my list!
But my favorite part of the day was the camping spot I found. I ended up driving on a gravel road about 20 miles to a really secluded spot on the top of a mountain next to a fire lookout tower and some large antennas.
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE thunderstorms, and it stormed all night long. I got a 360 degree view of some amazing lighting throughout the night
Was I a bit nervous being on the top of a mountain near tall radio antennas just begging to be struck by lightning?
Absolutely.
Would I do it again?
Yep!!
I took a ton of pictures today, so here they are.
Gotta get a selfie with the fathers, right?
A bunch of pictures from Custer State Park.
Pictures from my awesome camping spot off a National Forest Service road.
Storms rolling through!
Trying to get a selfie with lightning in the background.
Cool pic, but no lightning. Let’s try again.
Got it!!
Selfies are never easy with this dog. I’ll take it!
Some videos I took during the day.
Here’s some highlights from the drive.
And a timelapse of my day.
